True Happiness and Contentment

In this push Button age of easy living, sacrifice and self-denial have become meaningless words for many people.

The advantages provided by modern science often make people indifferent and easy going.

The bold and adventurous men of the olden days did not cross the continents in the comfort of an aeroplane. But they sweated it out under untold hardships of their wagons and sailing ships.

Today, many people believe that the more they have the more happier they will be; That the improvements in their lives can come only from plentiful possessions and riches. People who live to collect and store the things of the world find in the end that they have collected nothing to carry with them namely the good works. Till the end they have not found happiness among their material possessions in the world.

Man has tamed the wild beasts, has conquered the oceans and mountains, and has reached the moon . Unless he has tamed and disciplined himself, he will never find true happiness and contentment.

That taming and discipling is the toughest part. But, if you were to read Osho, easily the greatest Indian phlosopher after Buddha, he would tell you that the more you try to suppress yourself and get into a state of denial, the farther from true happiness you will be. He did not mean this in a casual or 'immoral' sense, as a lot of people worngly believe.

We have to find our own way as per our karmas.

It is good to see a young modern girl grapple with these things in this day and age.
